Remastered Caster Robot Car RV-1! Post #1

Adafruit Motor Shield V1

Assassinated by an Orange Cat

As you can see from the pics the RV-1 (Rover-1) was knocked off of a high shelf by a very mischievous cat.

This car was full of issues from the very beginning. It is my very first microcontroller project.

The motors are not matched, and one lags. I tried for a while to program in compensation to fix it but one motor lags and the other is slower.

Because one motor lags on take off and the other is slower at times once both are rolling it displays radical trajectory mishaps. I am assuming the cheap motors I purchased are probably very mismatched. I purchased two new TT motors from Sun Founder (No affiliation but I highly recommend them for merchandise and Product/Library Support!). Even Sun Founder states the new TT motors are not matched. They recommend encoders with readers to view wheel speed data.

Current State of RV-1 Project Remixed.
Making my first goal major reconstruction (this has been accomplished), I have restructured the lay out and design of the bot. The picture to the right is the new design. much sleeker and less wires hanging out, more organized.

Added a the 'cubed' battery cover with the power button on top. The empty surface area is gonna get fitted with lots of sensors and some type of display. To Start, I want to put LEDs to show battery strength (Green Full, Yellow Used, Red near empty), Then Matrix LED, and then an LCD.

But the first step is to install new TT motors and get her to drive straight. Have also been rehashing the code. Learned a lot since I originally made this car.  Click Here To See Code
